Thoughts concerning pain that the family of Bret Riggle included on his funeral program
During out senior couple mission to New Zealand, we became well acquainted with a wonderful LDS couple that were living New Plymouth. Bret was the husband, and he served in the Taranaki District presidency. His wife was Jessica, a sweet mother and wife. They were Americans who were living in New Zealand due to Bret’s employment. After we all returned from our years in New Zealand, Bret was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, with which he struggled for many years. He endured unspeakable pain during his illness. The following quotation was printed on the funeral program at Bret’s funeral, held in Meridian, Idaho on September 28, 2024. It is a quote from Bret, which he asked to have on his program.
“I want you to know that I love you. I had a full life and was happy with what I achieved and accomplished. The pain was just a part of my life, and I learned so much in a short period of time from the pain and became better from it. When things don’t seem like they are going right, go back to love. It is the key to being happy in every moment.” — from Bret
