Personal Life Journal — October 2020
- October 10, 2020 — James and I conquered another county peak on this day. We climbed Bull Mountain in Box Elder County. It was a major endeavor, as we spent half of the hike bushwhacking and thrashing our way through gnarly bushes and thistles on very steep terrain. I so much enjoyed James’ company and companionship, and he was back to his usual perky and upbeat personality. I now have just one peak left to accomplish my goal of climbing the tallest peak in each of Utah’s 29 counties. Hurray!
- October 24, 2020 — Mission accomplished! I stood on the summit of Mount Cardwell in Wasatch County today, completing my quest to climb the tallest peaks in each of Utah’s 29 counties. James was unable to be with me due to commitments in St. George, so that took a little of the joy out of the occasion. Susan and Haylie hiked with me about half of the way, and then I forged on alone as the terrain became too difficult for them. What a feeling it was to stand there, knowing that I had finally reached this “summit” in my life, with pun intended. I will now enjoy going with James on some of his continuing hikes to climb these county peaks. I will be happy to do the ones that have established trails all the way to the top, but I am DONE with bush-whacking!
- October 2020 — I want to mention two other accomplishments that occurred in this month. I was able to winterize our RV trailer with Steven’s help, using my new air compressor and some special adapters that I purchased. We used air pressure to blow all the water out of the lines in the trailer, following guidelines that I found on the internet. It went smoothly and I was proud of Steven and myself. We also had Paul install a fence between our lot and our neighbor’s lot to the south, which will prevent our neighbor’s landscaping mulch and bark from spreading all over our driveway and trailer pad every time the wind blows. The fence looks nice, and will provide a wonderful barrier in the future!
