“STIMULATOR” message for the week of June 29, 1971
Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated June 29, 1971.

Dear missionaries,
The Lord has truly blessed us during the first half of 1971 and it is our prayer that we will continue to be united and serve our Father in Heaven ‘with an eye single to His glory’, and make the last half even more productive. In order to hep motivate us to greater accomplishments, it was agreed by those in attendance at the recent Leadership Seminar, that Standards for weekly discussions be raised from 7 to 10 and that the 2 First Discussions and 2 New Dates be increased to 4. All other standards will remain the same and we urge you to conscientiously strive to effectively work the Goal Achievement Program in your areas, by doing your part, thus giving the Lord an opportunity to do His.
Don’t ever give discussions just to increase numbers, but rather with the Spirit, to convert someone to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Never let the mechanics of your work neglect the Spirit of the work, that should be a part of every act a missionary performs. You will only be successful in your missionary activities as you are guided by the Holy Ghost, which means that you must live each day to have this guidance. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)
President Joseph Fielding Smith said, “All missionaries who go into the field volunteer their time, they are not forced, therefore, when they go out into the field to preach the gospel they become the servants of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, voluntarily, and they should understand that they have made the promise to covenant with Him and to serve Him with all they have — heart, might, mind, and strength. If they fail, then there may be a penalty. If they do not put forth every effort to serve the Lord, the Spirit of the Lord will withdraw from them, and they may lose the faith.”
Humble yourselves, missionaries. Take the steps that will prepare you to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. The Lord wants to bless you. He wants to give you knowledge that will clear up all of your difficulties and put you in harmony with the commandments He has given us. Remember, “He that seeketh me early shall find me, and shall not be forsaken.” We know you can do it! We know you want to do it! OUR FAITH IS IN YOU!
