“STIMULATOR” message for the week of August 10, 1971

Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated August 10, 1971.

“THE MAN WHO DOES HIS BEST TODAY WILL BE HARD TO BEAT TOMORROW” !!   “600” in 1971 !!

Dear Missionaries,

One of the illusions of life is that the present hour is not a critical, decisive hour.  Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.”  (Ralph Waldo Emerson).  Today, not tomorrow.  Today is the time to work harder than you have ever worked before.  Today is the time to follow-up on those contacts and referrals.  Today is the time to testify and challenge your contacts to be baptized.  Today is the time to beat your best!

President David O. McKay said: “The time has come for an expansion of the work of God among the peoples of the world, such as has never been known before.  For this reason the calling of a missionary today is more crucial than ever before.  Today is the day for action.  In your race for achievement your strongest competitor is TIME, your keenest adversary is HESITATION, and your bitterest enemy is ‘WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW’.  Someone once said: ‘Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”  We could paraphrase this and say, “Today is the first day of the rest of your mission.”

Remember, today is the only time we have.  Today you can put forth all your time and talents in the cause of the Lord.  One’s reputation is built on his every day accomplishments.  Henry Ford once said, “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.”

This is most likely the only opportunity that you will have in your mortal life to devote your full-time efforts and talents to the work of the Lord.  You can’t afford to waste even a minute thinking or doing things that do not pertain to the Lord’s work.  Too much depends upon what you do now — today!  Be humble, be prayerful, live close to the Lord and make vey minute count each day.  Don’t have any regrets when your mission ends.

Sincerely your companions,
President and Sister Ludwig

“You better live your best and act your best and think your best today, for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow and all the other tomorrows that follow.”
