STIMULATOR message for the week of July 4, 1972

Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated July 4, 1972

“THE ONLY WAY TO DO ANYTHING IS THE WAY IT OUGHT TO BE DONE.”

Dear Fellow Missionaries:

The Lord truly blessed us in June.  Our hearts are full of gratitude for His many blessings to us.  We know that the spiritual channel to our Heavenly Father is open to all of us.  May we continue to keep tuned in.  One of the greatest challenges issued by Jesus to Simon Peter was “Feed My Sheep”.  Are we anxious and qualified as missionaries to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the plan of salvation to the Lord’s children here in New Zealand?  Those of you who are answering the question “Lovest Thou Me?” by your works in “Feeding His Sheep” are meeting this challenge of our Savior.  You are happy because you are obeying the commandments upon which the blessings of success are predicated.

Missionary work is a challenge, but you can do it, you can “feed His sheep”.  Continue teaching the principles of the Gospel to the people in your area, testify to them, and challenge them to find out for themselves if it is true.  Your challenge is to love your Heavenly Father and live close to Him, so that you may be better prepared to “Feed His Sheep”.  Remember, “God’s requirements are met by God’s enablings.”

We were saddened to hear of the passing of our dear Prophet and Seer, President Joseph Fielding Smith.  As the Lord’s mouthpiece on earth, he has given encouragement, guidance, and wise counsel to the members of this great Church and has always been a light to this people.  We are grateful for his love, his teachings, his inspiration, and his example.

Here is a wonderful quote from President Smith: “There is no cure for the ills of the world except the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our hope for peace, for temporal and spiritual prosperity, and for an eventual inheritance in the Kingdom of God is found only in and through the restored gospel.  There is no work that any of us can engage in which is as important as preaching the gospel and building up the Church and Kingdom of God on earth.  We call upon the world to repent, to worship that God who made them, and to believe the words of those who He has sent in this day to proclaim His gospel.”

By our actions let us prove that we do love the Lord and in so doing be worthy of the trust our Prophet called us to.

Faithfully yours,

President Eugene C. Ludwig

“ONLY BY BEING SPIRITUALLY LINKED WITH THE LORD WILL WE RECEIVE THE TRUE JOY OF MISSIONASRY WORK.”
