STIMULATOR message for the week of June 6, 1972
Message from President Eugene C. Ludwig, dated June 6, 1972
“LOSS OF SINCERITY IS LOSS OF VITAL POWER!”
Dear Fellow Missionaries:
We read in the Doctrine and Covenants 100:7-8: “But a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall declare whatsoever thing ye declare in my name, in solemnity of heart, in the spirit of meekness, in all things. And I give unto you this promise, that inasmuch as ye do this the Holy Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say.”
Be humble and teachable missionaries. Recognize the fact that you are ambassadors of Jesus Christ. In your labors demonstrate real faith and serve in accordance with instructions of President John Taylor, third president of the Church: “The kind of men we want as bearers of this gospel message are men who have faith in God; men who have faith in their religion; men who honor their priesthood; men in whom the people who know them have faith and in whom God has confidence… we want men full of the Holy Ghost and the power of God that they many go forth weeping, bearing precious seed and sowing the seeds of eternal life, and then returning with gladness, bringing their sheaves with them….men who bear the words of life among the nations ought to be men of honor, integrity, virtue, and purity; and this being the command of God to us, we shall try and carry it out!”
In all our work we must realize the source of our blessings and acknowledge the hands of the Lord. We, in and of ourselves cannot convert anyone. If we are obedient, industrious, and prayerful, the Holy Ghost will be our constant guide and companion. This precious gift, this Divine companion will bear testimony through us to those we teach, and they will know the truth and we will be instruments in the Lord’s hands for the accomplishment of HIs purposes. “And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith, and if ye receive not the Spirit, ye shall not teach.” (Doctrine and Covenants 42:14)
May we all measure up to the great responsibility we have to teach by the Spirit and in so doing WE CAN BE HAPPY SUCCESSFUL MISSIONARIEIES. It’s all up to you!!! We know you will do it!
