New Zealand Hamilton Mission, September 2015 — Insights, wisdom, and truths learned
Truths and thoughts from September 2015
- September 1, 2015 — District meeting
- We invite, they commit, we follow-up.
- Invitations should start with ‘will you…’.
- We succeed when we invite, no matter what the outcome.
- We need to help investigators make and keep commitments.
- September 17, 2015 — Taranaki Zone meeting
- Sister Pagofie spoke about inviting others (everyone!)
- Love is to help someone become self reliant
- There are 6 feelings or stresses we can feel — spiritual, physical, mental, behavioral, social, and moral.
- Our bodies and minds are connected.
- Our external manifestations do not define us.
- Physical well being is determined by food, sleep, and exercise.
- Mental well being is determined by analyzing, problem solving, and attitude.
- Behavioral well being is determined by the physical and mental combining into appropriate actions
- Social well being deals with relationships, friendships, family (greatest joy and perhaps greatest frustrations)
- Moral well being is determined by the attributes you choose to have in your life, and the capacity to acquire correct principles.
- Spiritual well being is determined by our identity and potential to become god-like. This controls all other aspects of life.
- Remember F-T-B-A-R = find, teach, baptize, activate, retain.
- You are the message! Treat yourself well.
- Teach the ‘why’ before the ‘what’.
- How will you personally change the ‘culture’ of our mission?
- Can you truly keep the commandments if you are breaking the mission rules?
- The work is supposed to be hard. If it weren’t hard, everyone would do it. It is it’s hardness that makes the work great!
- Revelation is not received simply because of curiosity. The Lord expects us to act upon the revelation received.
- The conversion triangle includes the Spirit, the investigator, and the missionary. The investigator must listen and receive, the missionary must teach. Both the investigator and the missionary must be in tune with the Spirit.
- Observe, listen, discern, teach, love, invite.
- The support beams between the church and the missionary work are prayer, the Book of Mormon, the ward mission leader, the bishop, and the stake president. These crucial building materials form a bridge that links the investigator with conversion to the Gospel.
- INVITE = is necessary and vital in teaching exaltation.
- Do my investigators understand the purpose of my first visit? What evidence do I have of this? Issue invitations right from the beginning.
