Brother Burton:

  • Our mantle of authority is so much bigger than any of us.  You grow into the mantle.
  • You become a missionary by doing missionary service.
  • When the time comes for the mantle to be removed, the important question is what have you become.
  • There are no bad days in the Korea Seoul West mission.

Sister Burton:

  • She described “unpacking” a scripture as going through word by word, line by line.  The Lord packed a lot of information into each scripture to bless our lives.
  • 3 Nephi 5:13  1) Jesus Christ  2) HIS word and HIS people  3) Behold! 4) Declare – boldly, bravely  5) Everlasting life – not just Word of Wisdom or tithing or church attendance
  • Moroni 7:2  the GIFT of my call
  • Obstacles to discipleship:  1) Fear – one sister had a fear of the Korean language but she become a master testifier (2 Nephi 27:20-21 – I am able to do my own work, but He let’s us participate)  2) Anger – often manifest via boredom and sleeping. 3) Unworthiness 4) Pride – if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.
  • Level One faith – sow seeds,  level two faith – water and fertilize the seeds, level three faith – harvest the crop
  • Alma 56:45-48 – stripling warriors
  • There are two things faith can’t do  1) remove or alter a person’s agency 2) impose our will on the Lord’s will
  • President Ezra Taft Benson – “Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace. Whoever will lose his life in the service of God will find eternal life.”
  • The purpose of every calling is to become a disciple and then to help other become disciples also.
  • The story of the currant bush — Thank you for loving me enough to hurt me.
  • The Lord wants to make us into palaces, but we often times settle for cottages or shacks.
