New Zealand Hamilton Mission, August 2015 — Insights, wisdom, and truths learned

Truths and thoughts from August 2015

  • August 4, 2015 — Training meeting in Roturua, New Zealand.  We were invited guests of President and Sister Rudd
    • Elder Bednar has stated that the more members who share their feelings with friends, the more growth we will see.
    • Elder Pearson has said that ‘master planners’ have double the baptisms of those who don’t plan well.
    • We are not seeing increasing baptisms, so we must not be master planners.
    • Why aren’t we master planners?  Lack of knowledge.  Goal setting and planning are critical.
    • Our goal setting must be energetic and aggressive
    • Doctrine and Covenants 6:8 — if you have the desire, you will accomplish great things.
    • Give an accounting of your day at the end of each day.
  • August 28, 2015 — Brother Herewini Jones devotional, Hawera, New Zealand
    • Brother Jones is a legend in New Zealand, having traveled across the world and speaking at various venues (prisons, chapels, indigenous firesides, violence prevention conventions, youth firesides, etc.)
    • He asked the Lord to bless him as he began his remarks.
    • Joshua 24:26 mentions a great stone that Joshua placed under an oak tree, as a witness that he had preached  the words of the Lord to the people.  He believes that this stone was divided into 24 separate stones, and that three of them are currently to be found in Taranaki District, New Zealand.
    • The letters I-O represent ‘sacred God’.  Thus, names such as Ontario, Iowa, and Ohio have sacred significance.
