President Wilford Woodruff quotes
- Wilford Woodruff commented, after he was sustained as President of the Church, that he understood, by inspiration, why the Lord had permitted him to serve in this holy calling. He said it was “…because the Lord could not find a weaker vessel”.
- President Woodruff also said he had no specific instructions for his funeral services, but if as many of the apostles as were available could make a few remarks, he would be grateful. He also said he hoped the Lord would allow him to attend his own funeral services. He said, however, that he would be obedient to the laws and rules of the spirit world pertaining to such matters.
- President Woodruff also said he wanted a simple coffin of native wood, “with a lot of room inside”.
