THE BOOK OF MORMON, the most unusual book in all the world
From a talk by President Glen L. Rudd, President of the Florida Mission, at a Four-Zone Conference in Tallahassee, Florida, on May 28, 1968.
“Almost every basic, fundamental doctrine found in the Bible is found in the Book of Mormon, but presented in a more clear and understandable way. No one lives or has lived or ever will live who can destroy or disprove the Book of Mormon. When people read and study the Book of Mormon, they will be led to Christ, and they should look for Christ. They should not be looking for the Lamanites or the Nephites or the wars or good stories; their main interest should be to receive a testimony of the divinity of the Savior.
“The Book of Mormon is the most unusual book in all the world, for the following reasons:
o No other book has ever been brought forth by an angel to a prophet.
o No other book has ever been translated from plates written centuries ago in an ancient language.
o No other book has had an angel come down from heaven to show the plates to certain witnesses – first to three and then to eight others.
o No other book has ever had the voice of Christ testify that it is true – not partly true or just a little true, but completely true.
o No other book has ever been translated from a dead language by the power of the Urim and Thummim.
o No other book in all the world contains the promise that all who read it can receive a witness that it is true. In other words, everyone can know – little
children, teenagers, young married people, and older folks all have this promise, and no other book contains such a declaration.
“THE BOOK OF MORMON IS OUR PASSPORT TO THE CELESTIAL KINGDOM.”
