Disneyland and southern California — Summer of 1987
Our family, the Gillespies, and Mom Taylor enjoyed a fun family vacation to Disneyland in June of 1987. We stayed overnight in St. George with Aunt Dorothy on the way down and this was the highlight of the whole trip for Annie and John. They fell in love with Dorothy and her dog, Tippy. We stayed at a motel in Anaheim that was a real dive, but it provided us with a lot of laughs. Some of the memorable times of the trip included 1) Tawnie and Paul eating French toast for practically every meal on the trip 2) Annie hiding her head and her eyes all the way through the “Pirates of the Caribbean” 3) Annie and John being scared out of their wits in “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” 4) The magnificence of the late-night electric parade down Disneyland’s Main Street 5) Countless rides on the Teacups ride with Annie and John 6) Nursing the Gillespie’s van all the way home with various mechanical problems.
