Steven’s sweetness and innocence — 1995
A cute and touching remembrance for our family happened on January 1, 1995 while Bishop Merrill Jenson was giving a talk in Sacrament Meeting. He was reading several notes from Primary children which he had received in answer to the question, “What makes you happy?”. One of the responses that he read was, “I heard Steven Taylor say ‘hi’ to Katie Jueschke.” This touched our hearts because our little Steven had drawn close to Katie, a handicapped girl in our ward who is wheelchair-bound and unable to verbally communicate with others. Art and Carol Jeuschke had been leaving Katie in the nursery during Sunday School and Relief Society, and Steven, who at the age of 3 was also in the nursery, had paid attention to her every week and considered her “his friend”. Can a simple “Hi!” make a difference in a life? Oh, the beautiful lessons we can learn from children
