— Graduation from Brigham Young University — April 1977 —
The week of my graduation from Brigham Young University was a joyous week for me. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.91 from the College of Biological Sciences, having obtained a degree in Microbiology. Over 3000 students received degrees on that graduation day, April 22, 1977. It was a thrill to share this day with my parents and family. I received the following sweet notes from my father and mother:
“Dear son Michael, This is one of the happiest and most rewarding days of my life – to see your name on the list of Summa Cum Laude graduates from Brigham Young University. How my heart swells with pride to have such a noble and worthy son. Love, Dad.”
“Dearest Michael, This has truly been one day I will always remember and one I have looked forward to for a long, long time. Your efforts and diligence have paid off with great rewards, an honor student, an honor son, and an honor son of God. I am so proud of you and so grateful for the day I was told, ‘Mrs. Taylor, you have a son!’ There has never been a time that you have let us down or failed to be anything but an honorable son. Thanks for this day and all the happy days yet to come. Love, Mom.”
