    • Doctrine and Covenants 104:14 and 104:55-56 — The earth is the Lord’s
    • The Law:
      • Overcome selfishness and greed
      • Purge our hearts of unrighteousness
      • Overcome the tendency to complain, criticize, and gossip
      • Keep our eyes single to God and His glory
      • Be endowed with power from on high
      • Sacrifice all for the Kingdom
      • Become perfectly holy
  • The United Order (the Order of Enoch)
    • The United Order is the administrative order for applying the Law of Consecration
    • Doctrine and Covenants 51 and Doctrine and Covenants 85
    • The earth is the Lord’s
    • We must enter the Order voluntarily
    • We must consecrate ALL to the Lord (Doctrine and Covenants 42:30-34, Doctrine and Covenants 70:1-8)
    • We become stewards of our own property (Doctrine and Covenants 42:32 and 104:14, 55-56)
    • This is private ownership, not communism or communalism.
    • Stewardship is regulated by needs, and to some degree, wants  (Doctrine and Covenants 51:3 and 82:17)
    • Needs and wants are determined by the mutual consent of both parties  (DHC 1:364-365)
    • All surplus goods and properties become the stewardship of the bishop  (Doctrine and Covenants 42:33 and 70:1-8 and Section 78)
    • Individual responsibilities are retained by those granted individual stewardships; this is not a socialistic equality (D&C 51:31)
    • This order frees the saints from dependence on others (DHC 1:268-269)
  • Why did Zion fail in the 1830 to 1834 effort?
    • Doctrine and Covenants 100:13, 101:1-21, 101:43-101, 103:1-28, 104, 105:9-34, 136:31
  • We are living by ‘lesser laws’ in our time
    • The Law of Tithing (Doctrine and Covenants 119:4)
    • The Law of the Fast (JOD 12:115-116)
    • The Church Welfare Program (Matthew 17:3, 2 Chronicles 21:12)
  • The role of the Bishop
    • Doctrine and Covenants 41:4, 42:70-73, Section 72
  • Providing for the Poor
    • Doctrine and Covenants 42:30-36, 44:6, 56:16-20, Section 83
