Note: Orson Pratt’s situation is unique. He was ordained an apostle on 26 Apr 1835, excommunicated on 20 Aug 1842, then reinstated and re-ordained an apostle on 20 Jan 1843. Orson Pratt also holds the distinction of being the apostle who served the longest without serving as the President of the Church nor the President of the Quorum of the Twelve. Also interesting is the fact that on April 7, 2024, President Dallin H. Oaks will have served 40 years as an apostle without serving as president of the Church.
