  • RemarksMargaret McMurrin Lee, President Lee’s grandmother, endured 11 miscarriages and stillborn deaths before she gave birth to Samuel Lee, the future father of Harold B. Lee.  Samuel Lee was born at only 29 weeks gestation!  The chance of such a premature baby surviving in the late 1890’s was incredibly small, but he survived.  He was so small that a wedding ring could be passed up his arm all the way to the shoulder.  Margaret McMurrlin Lee passed away just 9 days after the birth of Samuel due to complications from childbirth!  What a legacy of  faith and persistence she left for her posterity.  President Lee was an educator and accomplished musician.  Brigham Young University named its huge library after President Lee.  The Harold B. Lee Library is one of the largest libraries in the western United Sates, with 98 miles of shelving!  President Lee died from an unexpected pulmonary hemorrhage.
  • Inspirational quotes:  “The most important of all the Lord’s work you will ever do will be the work you do within the walls of your own home.”
