Elder Henry D. Moyle of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles
- Born in Salt Lake City on April 22, 1889
- Father was James H. Moyle, mother was Alice Dinwoodey
- Called on a mission to Germany in 1909
- Later graduated from the University of Utah in mining engineering
- Studied geology for one year at University of Freiberg, Germany
- Studied law at University of Utah, University of Chicago, and Harvard University
- Began a law practice in Salt Lake City in 1916
- Married Alberta Wright in 1919, and they had six children together
- During World War One:
- Served as Captain in the 21st Infantry
- Was an Instructor in Officers’ School at The Presidio
- Oversaw the ROTC program at Utah State Agricultural College in Logan for six months
- During World War Two:
- Was the Director of the Petroleum Industry Council
- Was later the Director of the National Petroleum Council
- Was the overseer of three oil refinery companies
- Served as the president of a livestock company
- From 1927 to 1937, served as the president of the Cottonwood Stake
- In 1937, served as the chairman of the General Church Welfare Committee (two members of this committee became apostles, those being Harold B. Lee and the other Elder Moyle)
- In April of 1937, he was ordained an apostle by President George Albert Smith, at the age of 57
- In 1959, he was called to serve as Second Counselor in the First Presidency, with President David O. McKay serving as Church President.
- In 1961, he was called as First Counselor in the First Presidency
- Died at age 74 in September 1963, while visiting a church welfare ranch in Florida
