Personal Life Journal — July 2024
- July 2024 — Experiences from this month: 1) My foot wound is making wonderful progress. I am so thankful. The wonderful priesthood blessing I received from President Robert Lesa several months ago is being realized. My pain is gone, the redness and swelling are gone, and the actual lesion has final begun to close. Just a few more weeks and I feel I will have my normal foot back. I still cannot wear a normal shoe on that foot, but that will come in time. What a blessing. 2) I had a heart-stopping moment during the third weekend in this month in which I could not find my daily/weekly planner. I was absolutely heartsick, because that planner is my lifeline. I was so fearful that I had accidently thrown it in with some trash and thrown it away. I fell to my knees in gratitude when I drove over to the surgical center, hoping beyond hope that I had left the planner there. When I arrived, my fob would not allow me entrance to the building. Just as I was about to leave, Lisa and John, two employees at the center, just happened to drive up, needing to do some weekend work. What a miracle. As I entered the operating room, I spotted my planner tucked down behind my anesthesia cart. I was so grateful, and thanked the Lord for another tender mercy in my life. 3) I received a very sweet message from a brother (and retired MD) named Dagan Dalton this month, telling me how much he enjoyed my website. He also pointed out an error on my site which I was grateful to correct. He was very complimentary, and I thanked him sincerely. I was sorry to hear that he is struggling with stage 4 cancer and doesn’t expect to live much longer. 4) What a sweet blessing came to the Brian Jolley family this month. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland became aware of the Jolley’s oldest son, Easton, and his struggle with muscular dystrophy. Elder Holland wrote Easton a personal letter and invited the family to come to his office for a visit. Elder Holland was so kind and gracious, and he told Easton that he could and should come to Elder Holland’s office at any time in the future if he needed to visit or if he needed encouragement. What a Christ-like man! 5) We have several friends in the ward who are struggling with severe health issues at this time. They include Merrill Jenson (cancer), Gary Ogden (end-stage Parkinson’s disease), Brent Shuldberg (cancer), Vince Kay (cancer), Darrell Sheeley (lower extremity paralysis).
