Operation On Target letter from Kurt Warner, professional football player

Kurt Warner, First Things First

March 24, 2011

Dear Varsity Scout,

Life is not always easy.  Many times we encounter challenges and obstacles in the pursiut of our dreams.  But, it is important to never give up.  My dream was success in the National Football League.  I did not take my eyes off of that goal until I achieved it — not when I was bagging groceries at the local store, not when I was playing Arena Football for the Iowa Barnstormers, not when I was third string for the St. Louis Rams, and not when I was benched for a younger quarterback.  I believed in the talents the Lord blessed upon me and worked hard to prepare for the time when my opportunity would come.  The rest, as they say, is history.  In 1999, I helped lead the Rams to the Super Bowl and earned NFL and Super Bowl MVP honors and a Super Bowl ring along the way.  And I recently played in my third Super Bowl with a team said to be the worst in the Playoffs.

As an Operation On Target participant, I encourage you to set your goals high.  Go out and get YOUR Super Bowl ring.  Whether it is to be a nurse, a lawyer, a teacher, identify your “ring”, your goal, and go get it!  All things are possbile when you seek to put first things first in school, in life, and in yourself!

God bless,

Kurt Warner
