The Temple
1/ Remembrances of Tuesday, September 22, 2015 — Our Zone Temple Day
- The setting in the Visitors’ Center
- Our position relative to the Christus statue — Christ as our Shepherd
- Surrounded by dear friends and fellow disciples of Christ
- Facing the House of the Lord, the Temple — remember King Benjamin’s people when they came to hear his words? Pitched their tents with the doorways facing the temple. For at least that hour, we were in the same situation! President Rudd was our King Benjamin!
- How many times in our lives will we be in such a setting? Record it well in our journals, but also in our hearts and minds.
- The next time we have a challenging day, let this image fill our hearts and thoughts! Let this experience be one of the foundation stones of your mission experience.
- Remember what you saw, heard, felt, learned, including both in the temple and the Visitors’ Center.
- This is the view that we should seek to instill in the minds and hearts of our investigators, less-actives, and even active members of the branches in which we serve!
- Did you notice the hands and feet of the statue? The story of that particular Christus — a “hands-on” Christus, consider D&C 6:36-37 ___________________________________
2/ D&C 109:22-23 !
- “…servants…” — How do you feel about being a ‘servant’? ________________________
- “…armed with thy power…” — The Armor of God, Armor of Light (Ephesians 6, D&C 27, Romans 13:12)
- “…thy name may be upon them…” — Remember the temple ceremony and the Sacrament
- “…thy glory round about them…” — What is His glory? Moses 1:39
- “…thine angels have charge over them…” — D&C 84:88, who is in charge of you?
- “…bear exceedingly great and glorious tidings…” — Remember the shepherds?
