New Zealand Hamilton Mission, April 2015 — Insights, wisdom, and truths learned

Truths and thoughts from April 2015

  • April 14, 2015 — Hawera District meeting
    • This was Elder Butler’s first district meeting as our new district leader.
    • Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said, “Live your mission to the fullest.  Work harder than you have ever worked before.  Remember how important the message is to us, and make it that important to those you teach.”
  • April 28, 2015 — Hawera District meeting
    • Don’t text other missionaries without permission.  Delete those numbers from your phone.
    • Alma 5:16 says, “Can you imagine to yourselves that ye hear the voice of the Lord, saying unto you, in that day: Come unto me ye blessed, for behold, your works have been the works of righteousness upon the face of the earth?”
    • Our district goal for baptisms in the month of May is 6.
    • Eliminate ‘guys’ and ‘geez’ from your conversations and vocabulary.
    • The four E’s of companion exchanges: earn trust, expectations, evaluations, establish trust.
    • Heavenly Father loves his daughters.  If an umbrella represents the priesthood, then all can find shelter under the umbrella.  The Lord has asked the brethren to hold the umbrella, but ALL find refuge underneath.
  • April 30, 2015 — New Plymouth Branch Conference
    • There were apparently two main topics at the Genearl Conference training.  Those were proper Sabbath Day observance, and proper Sacrament Meeting planning.
    • We should strive to make the Sabbath Day a “delight”.  We should feel increased spirituality on that day, and we should set ourselves apart from the rest of the world.
    • There is no way that a counselor should embarrass his president in front of a congregation or council.  For example, a counselor should not say, “President, we should delve deeper into that topic” or “We don’t have time for that now.”  Things like that should be discussed before the meeting begins.
    • Every member of the Church needs a friend, a responsibility, and nourishment by the good word of God.
