Temple recommend interview —  1996

June 9, 1996 was a day of spiritual uplift for me.  Susan and I asked a member of our stake presidency if we could come to his home for our temple recommend interviews.  He graciously consented, and I waited while Susan had her interview.   I read an article in the “Ensign” as I waited, and my mind and heart were thus attuned to things spiritual as the presidency member commenced my interview.  Several of the recommend interview questions had recently been changed, and I was listening intently to each one.  As the brother asked concerning my belief in Christ as the literal Son of God and of my support for President Hinckley, the Spirit of testimony and of the Holy Ghost filled my soul, as forcefully and prominently as I have ever felt it.  Tears flowed freely as I realized what a privilege it was to be a Latter-day Saint, to be asked these significant questions, and to be able to respond appropriately to each one.  I was grateful for yet another witness of the truthfulness and importance of this great work.
