5/ The First Vision — WHO? (Why Joseph Smith?)
- Abraham 3:22-23. Abraham was “…one of them…” So was Joseph Smith!
- Mark 2:21-22. New wine…new bottle. Total restoration…new prophet.
- 2 Nephi 3:15. Joseph Smith like unto Joseph of Old. An incredible comparison.
- 3 Nephi 21:9-11. 1) shall be in my hand 2) not hurt him 3) shall be marred 4) I will heal him 5) shall give unto him power
- D&C 135:3. “..save Jesus only..”
6/ The First Vision — WHEN? (Why in the early 1800’s?)
- 1 Nephi 13:30. “…the land which is choice above all other lands…”
- Eleventh Article of Faith. No other land would have permitted this.
- State-run and State-sponsored religions were the norm in most countries.
