EKG — determining axis
EKG, determining axis:
- Picture the 6 line diagram, with Lead 1 pointing to the right and lead F pointing to the bottom
- 0 to -90 is left axis deviation (LAD)
- 0 to +90 is normal axis
- +90 to +180 is right axis deviation (RAD)
- -30 is positive for lead L
- 00 is positive for lead 1
- -30 is positive for lead R
- +60 is positive for lead 2
- +90 is positive for lead F
- +120 is positive for lead 3
- +210 is positive for lead R
- Vectors are displaced toward hypertrophy and away from infarction
- If the septal transition shifts toward V1, that is counterclockwise rotation
- If the septal transition shifts toward V6, that is clockwise rotation
