— Sacrament Meeting humor — 1980 —
I recall a funny incident that happened at a returning missionary’s welcome-home sacrament meeting. This event occurred in my student ward at the University of Utah. About half-way through the missionary’s talk, a little boy went up on the stand and began pounding on the piano. The missionary turned and said, “Well, I guess we’ll now have a special musical number!” The mother of the little boy came charging up onto the stand, and she had to chase the boy up and down the aisles between the choir seats before finally catching him. The congregation was roaring with laughter. As the mother was carrying the child out of the meeting to his ultimate fate, the elder said over the microphone, “He’ll make a great missionary. That boy has a lot of enthusiasm.” The mother, over her shoulder, retorted, “If he lives that long!”
