QUESTION:  Who was the last President of the Church that personally knew the Prophet Joseph?
ANSWER:  The last President of the Church that personally knew the Prophet Joseph was his nephew, President Joseph F. Smith. Joseph F. Smith was 5 years old when the Prophet was martyred.  He recalled being taught the basic principles of the Gospel at the Prophet’s knee, and described him as “…full of joy,…full of gladness,…and full of love.”  The next president of the Church, Heber J. Grant, was born in 1856.

QUESTION:  Can you identify the largest and the smallest age differences that have existed between two consecutive Presidents of the Church?
ANSWER:  The largest age difference that has existed between two consecutive Church presidents is with Presidents Lorenzo Snow and Joseph F. Smith.  President Snow, the fifth Church president, was 24 years and 7 months older that President Smith, the sixth president.  The smallest age difference was between John Taylor, the third president, and Wilford Woodruff, the fourth president.  They differed in age by only 1 year and 8 months.

QUESTION:  Of our church presidents, who was the oldest at the time of their apostolic ordination?
ANSWER:  President Russell M. Nelson is the church president that was oldest at the time of his ordination to the apostleship.  He was 59 years and 07 months at the time of his ordination to the apostleship. Howard W. Hunter the church president who was second-oldest at the time of his ordination to the apostleship.  He was 51 years and 11 months old when he was ordained an apostle on October 15, 1959. President Gordon B. Hinckley was the third-oldest, being 51 years and 3 months old when he was ordained an apostle on October 5, 1961.  All of our other presidents were less than 50 years of age when they were ordained apostles.
